Personally I am a huge fan of the game of basketball and would love to see something like that go into the White House. I believe it shows his side as an every day human being. Obama told reporters that he tries to get out and play everyday, acting normal as if he can. The flip side of this argument is that while were paying taxes, that money were paying is going to the contractors laying the new floor and putting in the glass backboards. So my question is what is your take? Where do you stand on a new basketball court in the White House? Do you oppose it? Or like me, do you think its a playful and good symbol?

Changes in the White House?
In an interview conducted with Barack Obama earlier this year, he told ESPN that if elected, he would place a basketball court within the White House. Now to some that sounds like one of the coolest things a president could do. To many people it symbolizes his youth and playfulness. But what you don't realize is that he will be using our money to reconstruct the White House. So there are two sides to this. Either favor the new elect president Obama or go against him and his new hard wood floor.

Do you actually believe this would happen? Not only would it be unprofessional and nontraditional, but a complete waste of money and not beneficial to you in any way. It would also be a bad headline and fuel for racial jokes and remarks. All around, it sounds like a bad idea, and of course would never happen.
First of all, was he serious when he made this comment? I did not see the interview but I highly doubt it. Secondly, I love basketball too, but there is absolutely no way I would ever support our citizens taxes going towards something so ridiculous, especially not when our country is in such debt. I completely disagree that if he did follow through with that, that it represents his playfulness. As TMX Cowboy said, it would be completely unpractical and unprofessional.
I would disagree also if the President Elect were to do this. However not because of the money issue. If the president elect were to do this it would more then likely come out of his pocket. All redecorating and remodeling for the white house comes out of a small budget given to the president, anything over that budget the president would pay for personally.
However from a different point of view I believe there isn't a need for the President of the most powerful country in the world to have a Basketball court in his house. Not saying he shouldn't go play ball every once in a while. But given the economic time our country is in, it wouldn't be setting a healthy example for the rest of the country to look at.
